The job that I have chosen to send my cover letter to is Nestle / Poland Springs. I picked this company because they have a local job position available for telesales representative and I know a few people who work there that really like their job.

I have worked at Shaw's in Taunton for the last 6 years. That's 6 boring years of customer service. I'm not saying this is my dream job by any means, I'm just saying I'm qualified for it! Here are some of the items on the list of qualifications:

Outstanding communication skills – “I received a D in COMM130, D’s get Degrees!”

Bi-lingual skills in Spanish a plus – “eu nao falo espanhol!”

Must possess strong negotiation skills – “you want 10 dollars for that? I’ll give you 20 &that’s final!”

Ability to identify needs and offer solutions – “sorry sir, that sounds like a problem you’ll have to resolve on your own”

Excellent written and oral communication skills “sO shooD I tipe lyke thiS?”

A high degree of professionalism/ability to interact with callers in a professional manner – “sure, can I get you anything else , ******bag”

Strong computer skills including Microsoft office suite—“I just upgraded to windows 95”

On a more serious note, I feel as though this is a job I can obtain with me excellent intrapersonal skills, knowledge of the company, enthusiasm to learn, and ability to pick up new information quickly!

  1. This is hilarious. What I am most impressed by is the fact that you managed to sneak the word "D-bag" into your blog. Hopefully, in the long run you can find a job you're qualified for AND want to do. . .but I'm sure anything would seem like a dream job next to working in customer service at Shaws.

  2. Thanks Nicole! &Sam, it was really hard, but I've been waiting for the right d-bag moment in my blogs. I'm glad it finally made it in there. It's true that anything would be better then customer service at Shaw's. "I tried this chicken salad, ate the whole thing, and decided I didn't like it &wanted to return it" is something that I'm VERY sick of hearing!

  3. Please don't count this as my weekly comment.

I basically cried when I read this. I'll buy you a copy of Windows 98 when it comes out.

  4. Kate it is fitting that with this last post you found a way to insert your favorite word. I appreciate your humor in your wringing. Finding the right times to be humorous can be useful. Look at all the comments you got on this post. On a serious note you did a good job of analyzing the job ad.
